10th July: Exploring Digitised Medieval Manuscripts using IIIF
In this (short) hands-on workshop we will help you start to get familiar with IIIF, providing you with some initial insights on how this open standard and supporting community can enable you to enhance your research, education and presentation use cases when working with digitised Medieval content. We will start with a brief overview of IIIF concepts from the perspective of some common use cases. We will then guide you through the steps required to view, share IIIF content, before then creating your own IIIF digital object (known as a Manifest) using tools set up by Digirati and available IIIF content to experiment with.

11th July: Foundations in Working with Medieval Manuscripts Using IIIF
This 4 hour workshop introduced the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF), an essential tool for medievalists working with digital manuscript images. Participants will have the opportunity to have physical access to a selection of objects from the University of Leeds Special Collections during the workshop. Participants will explore key IIIF concepts, create and manage their own IIIF resources, and then learn practical applications like creating and sharing annotations and building digital exhibitions using those resources. The workshop includes hands-on activities with open source tools and provides six months of extended use of the Digirati IIIF hosting platform utilised during instruction.
